sushi dinner at marta’s
sushi at marta’s means helping in the kitchen, enjoying an evening around friends, chatting and laughing the whole time. apparently everyone helps out, everyone did at least one roll of sushi, i tried with one it was sooooo perfect i didn’t do another! :)
(this photo is real and mine, not something i found in google!)
it was a great evening.
so MARTA, would you please come with us to Ponta do Ouro for my birthday party!!!! i know we’re all staying in your house, but you said you needed an oficial invitation, and here it is!
ponta do ouro #001
another weekend with friends, this time in Ponta do Ouro, in the south point of Mozambique. it is amazing, closer to the kind of beaches i was used to in the sense that it wasn’t as paradisiac as we had seen before but hot as hell (literally… i think). it reminded me of Algarve, with just slightly lighter sand, more trasnparent water… and much bigger… maybe i should rethink my image of the Algarve.
aldo and i enjoyed ourselves very much, we even got to see South Africa… from a distance. from the top of the hill where the old light house is still standing we could see the very defined line of the border… we’re getting closer to that country, still a few weeks to go and we’ll visit it.
swiming, sunbathing, toasting, great conversations and amazing food were all part of these fantastic 2 days… nothing like leaving work on a friday at 5pm and heading to Ponta do Ouro… maybe one day i’ll show you pictures of the boat that crosses the river in Maputo to go to Ponta… i actually thought my days were over!
did i say we had great food? oh… just checking…
of course the problem when you travel with nature people is that they feel they should include nature in their “relaxing” plans… so up the hill we went and voilá, this is what we were greeted by
do i look completely dead to you? i’ll tell you a secret… I WAS!!!
me trying to climb a coconut tree…
it’s always nice to know someone always notices when you have the sun in you eyes…
there it is… South Africa… the grey part!
i asked to be surprised at dinner… Marta made a spectacular Arroz Doce just for my portuguese taste buds… and i thanked her by writing something very true
the desert was MANINGUE NICE (here in mozambique when they want to say VERY NICE they mix the southern dialect MANINGUE which means VER and the word NICE that they picked up from it’s neighbor South Africa)
i also will show you one of the most wierd things i have ever in my life learner and wish i hadn’t. i always hated cockroaches and now i hate them so much more… apparently there is this type of cockroaches that pick up cow poo (shit, literally!) and roll it into a ball… roll it through the sand until they get “home”… Sérgio and Hellen told us that they can be found on the “road home” all they day… and here is one… and we saw more… now please try to ignore this information as soon as you can because i know i will…
sorry, but just one more detail… they push it backwards… the head in on the ground and they push with their back feet… ok… now i’m done and really disgusted…
